I never wanted or expected to write another piece about loss and grief but here we are still writing, still healing, still sharing.

The Opposite of Love
Writing, healing, and sharing are all intertwined for me. I wrote this in the dark depths of grief last week. I hope it helps more than it hurts. For those who don’t make it to the end, here is the punch line “to all my friend past, present and future. I love you”
Out of my Depth
This piece has been a long time in the making one way or another. I was inspired to write it all down, finally, after reading an article about long-term overtraining/overstressing and the affects it has had on others. The article was highly validating for me as I have spent many hours ruminating if the weird…
Feminism. Feminist. Female. Me?
It was International Women’s Day last week and I finally got around to writing something I have had sitting in my notes, percolating, for nearly 7 years.
When I Grow Up…

The Perfect Love
I started trying to write this piece in January. It is now May. I don’t think I have ever sat on a piece of prose for so long. I’ve been having some D and M chats with a bunch of different close friends in this time and I guess this is the final result. It’s been a hard one to get my head around at times but I’m feeling a bit more positive about it all right now. Read Time: ~5mins

“A New Name for Everything”
I’ve been back in New Zealand for nearly 1.5 months. It’s been a period of “adjustment”. I’ve gotten slowly used to using light switches and other creature comforts I had all but forgotten about. A few people have asked me, “What is it like to be back?” and I guess in my usual roundabout way this is my summary of it…. read time: 10mins

None of it Matters
Some days you watch the sunset on a prehistoric pillar in a UNESCO world heritage site, other days you find yourself bawling your eyes out in a cloud of mosquitoes, in the middle of nowhere, in a country where you can’t even understand the alphabet. You’re tired. You’re lonely. You want to go home. This life is a waste of time.
Then you write something like this. Feel a little better. Get up the next day and start again….
